NEW VERSION:

Fact has switched to version 2. If you encounter any problems please report them to the website administrator
The old version can still be accessed here

FACT has been developed to search for proteins having the same or a similar function. The similarity between the feature architectures of two proteins, i.e., their arrangements of functional domains, secondary structure elements and compositional properties, is used as a proxy for their functional equivalence.

Currently you can choose between the following options:

  • Compare On this webpage, you can provide the sequences of two proteins. FACT will annotate the features in both proteins and will display a comparison of the two feature architectures via the feature dot plot.
  • Find functional equivalents On this webpage you can use a protein sequence as query to search for functional equivalents in a selected search proteome. FACT annotates the features in the query sequence and uses then a scoring function to identify the protein with the most similar feature architecture in the search proteomes.
